How to Install an M.2 SSD in Your PS5

Installing an SSD in the PS5 is straightforward. You'll need a Phillips head screwdriver. The M.2 slot is under a panel on the left side of the console (when standing vertically). Sony has a step-by-step guide on their support site, and the whole process takes about 10 minutes.

  • Power off PS5 and unplug all cables
  • Remove the white side panel to reveal the M.2 expansion slot
  • Remove the spacer screw for your SSD's length
  • Insert the SSD at an angle and press down to seat
